  • Rustling from his open the letter on the desk, gives effect.
Mise-en-Scene
Envelope - This creates enigma, which makes the audience think 'whats inside it?'. It also shows where the character lives, and that his divorce is done with.
Table, telephone, paper work - This shows the audience that he is in an office and that it is his job.
Pen - The pen he is clicking shows that hes anxious, and nervous about what its in the letter. You can hear the pen clicking quite loud, unrealistic as it wouldn't be this loud if you were there.
Board - This is advertising his work so it shows the audience where he works automatically.
Clothes - He is wearing a suit, smart clothing; which shows hes working in an office. Same with the women wearing smart clothing and hearing high heal footsteps.
Tower Block - Shows offices.
Yellow Taxis - This shows he is in New York.
Traffic - Shows the busy environment, showing he is in a place like New York.
Headphones & iPod - When he plays music it shows because he is holding the iPod and has the headphones and then changes the song. Headphones separate him from the traffic.
Buildings and signs - This shows the audience where he is and what is around him,

Editing
Cuts - Cuts from titles to other titles. From scene to scene. From face to prop and back to face.
Titles slide in.
Shot reverse shot - with people, titles and objects.
There is different types of shots that are used that relate to what is going on in the scene.
Match on action is used when he touches a button on his iPod and then the music plays.
Uses split screen to show whats around the character.

Camerawork Features
Extreme close up is used on the envelope which creates enigma and shows it is important.
Medium shot of the scenery to show where the character is.
The letter is shown from the characters point of view, so we see what he see's, also it shows a close up of the letter showing the audience his divorce is done with.
There is a close up and over the shoulder shot of him putting his headphones in.
There was a low shot when he realizes he plays the wrong song so the audience can see his reaction to show he doesn't like it.
The camera tilts up when the packaged is arrived and then the camera goes to his face to show his reaction.
Eye line match of the assistant which shows she is looking at him.

Research into Institutions - Jodie Rider

Institution - Cheaper By the Dozen

This film is a film about a family that have some ups and downs, the mum goes away for a opportunity for a job so the dad has to look after the 12 children, very family orientated. This film is a comedy/family.  The film was released on the 25th of December 2003 in the USA.  Over the first part you see credits. The production companies are The Twentieth Century Fox Film Cooperation and Robert Simonds Production. The budget for this film was $40,000,000 and the gross was $138,614,544 which is a big profit they have made, the film has been successful.

There are many different productions for films but there are more popular productions used. Examples are 20th Century Fox, DreamWorks Animation, Universal Studios, and Columbia Pictures. The 20th Century Fox has been very successful with films and is very popular some of the films that have been released by them are Die Hard, Home Alone, Garfield, and Planet of the Apes. These films have got very big profit and have been very successful.

Distribution is where a film is related through the successes of producers, writers, directors and performers. It markets the film and sometimes can depend on the release date for the film; it can either be theater or home videoing.  A distribute can be limited and only be in charge of releasing DVD’s and blue rays. To actually distribute a film it is not easy it is quite hard, the hardest part isn't producing the film it is the distribution. Distributes become interested in the film after seeing it at a film festival and watching the audiences reactions to see if it would be a success.

Similar Film Analysis - Amy Cass

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
In Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, there is a part when Harry uses a Pensieve to look back on previous memories of Professor Slughorns. I chose to analyse this part of the film because I thought it related to the flashbacks that we are doing in our film.

Effects-
When the flashback starts, as Harry puts his head into the water the colours of the shot start to come together as if it is ink. Then as it continues, there is an effect on it that makes it look eerie. It’s not black and white, but it enhanced the blues and the yellows within the frame.  Then to finish, as Slughorn waves his arms, it’s as if he is messing up the image because shadows appear and then the camera races towards Harry’s face, as he takes it out of the water.

Sound-
The sound in the flashback is also been altered. It echoes at the end of words e.g.- intuition, sir, professors, misunderstand. Also when Professor Slughorn taps the hourglass, the sound echoes more than it would usually. Here the editors have intensified the sound to make it more dramatic. Then when Riddle and Slughorn are talking there is a part of the memory that Slughorn can’t quite remember, for this part they have muffled out what Riddle says.

Camera Shots-
Within this scene there are many different camera shots. These are some;
·         Close Up
·         Shot, reverse, shot
·         Two person shot
·         An establishing shot (they show the majority of the classroom, therefore establishing the location)
·         The use of a dolly to follow Riddle as he walks around the classroom
·         Over the shoulder shot to look at Slughorn from Riddles point of view

Shot List

Roles:
Ruhela and Jodie typed this up and uploaded it to the blog.

Location Shots

This is Jodie's house where out film is going to be set. The reason we used this her house because it is very big and modern. The main character is rich so we thought this would be a good house to use as it fits in with his class. When people see the house I think it will be very clear on what his class status is.
This is where the main scenes for Joe will be shot.

We will be using Jodie's bedroom for when Joe is getting ready. We thought this is would be good as her room is very big and from the background you can tell it is a room and in another shot he looks in the mirror and you can see the bedroom.

The other main place takes a big part in the film is outside of Jodie's house. Amanda's parts will all be here as she is going to be walking down to the house and waiting outside the door. The way the house is decorated with the flowers and the design of the house reflects the high status of our characters which is why we thought this would be a great place to set the film.

Group Roles:
Ruhela Begum - My role for this task was to take pictures of the main places our film is going to be set and write why we chose these places. I then created this post and posted it on the blog.
